Climate
Schloss Wallhausen wineyard sites are protected by a hill called the Soonwald, which keeps away wind and rain. The Soonwald forest works like a coat for the wineyard sites. Climate at Wallhausen is mild and winters are not as strong as further north or east.
There was a tetonic earth movement millions of years ago. Closer to Dalberg we find a Phyllite-slate (green slate (similar to Mosel slate), wheras near Wallhausen terroir is more influenced by the Nahedip. In this area red slate, clay, sand, quarzite and loess is more common.
Schloss Wallhausen has excellent potential with south facing steep hills with exclusive mineral soild- in the heart of the German wine growing regions and laying in cover of the Soonwald. This comes togther to give you an excellent microclimate for winegrowing.
Every soild brings forward an excellent winetyp and needs a suitable Varitell. King at Schloss Wallhausen is however Riesling which gives you interesting and different wines.
